Beautiful Images and InterfaceUpdated Review: After a few hours of adjusting the camera it has marked improvements in image quality.- Upon receipt I was not satisfied with the image output and made an Amazon return request.Not wanting to be without a rear facing camera, I began to adjust the lens focusing and found it to be off. Upon correcting the improperly focused lens the images are very high quality with very good central detail and some loss of quality at the edges as to be expected.I have a side by side comparison at my truetoad site; this Axis camera and a vivotek modelHere is my updated review:- The build quality of the camera is high quality featuring a full metal housing and weather seals. I have no worries with weather, spiders and moisture getting into the housing, comes from the factory with the ethernet wired in already – see comments beolow.The software / web interface is exquisite – Has every software setting you could ever possibly want or need to manage this camera, I consider it best in class for software and firmware support. Profiles, galore, AXIS is tops with camera software support.If you are using 3rd party software, the full features of the camera should be available – mostly due to AXIS excellent 3rd party ONVIF support. I had no issues adding this camera to my surveillance system as an additional camera. + the camera has onboard micro SD recording if you need it, I added a 32gb Micro SD.My biggest complaints:This camera comes pre-focused fixed lens, and my camera has poor image quality out of the box, after refocusing the lens that issue was corrected – by me.Although the camera has many configurations and many view profiles available, if you use the 360 view (which is the best in my opinion), the others may not be available in your 3rd party software as was mine. This may only be a problem if your require de-warping. I can achieve most views from the 360 by using my software and zooming.No IR illuminators, the camera has no built in IR illuminators, but the camera has IR cut filters which can use ambient light for low light situations.I bought one IR illuminator and the combination works, once you tweak it. Axis has an accessory if you need a custom IR set up as the camera can automatically turn on the IR when lights levels drop.After two weeks of use and the few hours I spent to correct the focus issues this camera gives great image performance and has lots of flexibilityOut of the box I would not recommend this camera for outdoor in situations needing low light support unless you buy an IR illuminator.For me this camera is being used to watch my bird feeder, I have since ordered a Vivotek 360 and a comparison is on my truetoad site.

Gute Fischaugenkamera!Ich habe die Kamera seit einiger Zeit zur Überwachung des Vorgartens im Einsatz und bin sehr zufrieden. Ich hätte ursprünglich die Vivotek FE8174V oder FE8181V gewollt. Da diese auf Amazon aber nie lieferbar war und der Preis auch um die Hälfte höher ist, habe ich mich für die Axis entschieden.Zu Beginn dachte ich die Kamera wäre sehr unscharf und wollte sie schon zurück schicken. Bis ich bemerkt habe, dass man durch drehen des inneren schwarzen Ringes, die Schärfe des Objektives einstellen kann. Das ist nirgends beschrieben, da die Kamera offenbar als “prefocused” verkauft wird. Nach der Korrektur ist nur ein kleiner Teil des Bildes ganz am äusseren Rand unscharf. Das ist aber bei Fischaugenkameras durchaus normal und nicht zu ändern. Die Unschärfe stört aber nicht sehr, man kann trotzdem noch genug erkennen. Immerhin hat die Kamera 187 Grad Sichtwinkel Horizontal und 168 Grad Vertikal. Wenn man bei Wandmontage unter der Kamera keinen toten Winkel haben möchte, sollte man sie leicht schräg montieren. Sonst ragt der “schwarze Halbkreis” zu weit ins Bild und man hat dort einen blinden Fleck.Die Farbtreue und Bildqualität ist gegenbüer der Vivotek 8174 bei einem Onlinevergleich klar im Vorteil gewesen. Ich bin mit der Bildqualität sehr zufrieden. Auch die Lowlight Performance ist im Farbmodus herausragend. Man erkennt bei normaler Straßenbeleuchtung genau so viel wie mit weggeklappten IR Sperrfilter im Schwarzweissmodus.Auch bei der Bewegungserkennung hat sich in den letzten Jahren in diesem Preissegment etwas getan. Es gibt nach wie vor die “dumme” Erkennung welche bewegte Pixel zählt und dadurch auch zu vielen Fehlalarmen führt (bei Sonne, Blättern im Wind..). Zusätzlich gibt es nun Apps auf der Axis Homepage welche auf der Kamera direkt installiert werden und die Funktionalität in Sachen Bewegungserkennung erweitern:*Axis Video Motion Detection 3: intelligente Bewegungserkennung mit geringer Fehlauslösequote und Einstellungen* Cross Line Detection: Man definiert eine Linie im Bild. Bei überschreiten eines Objektes wird Alarm ausgelöst (Kostenpflichtig ca 25,-)Ich benutze die Motion Detection 3 um Aufnahmen auf die interne SD Karte zu starten bzw. emails mit Snapshots zu versenden. Beides funktioniert recht gut. Wer allerdings wirklich zuverlässige Alarme möchte, sollte die Kamera mit einem PIR Bewegungsmelder über die I/O Ports koppeln.Bei der Montage zu beachten ist das ca 2 Meter lange fix montierte Ethernet Kabel. Wenn man ohne Ethernet Kupplung auskommen will/muss dann bleibt nur der Lötkolben. Eventuell ist es auch leichter ein längeres Kabel direkt in der Kamera anzuschliessen ; dann besteht allerdings die Gefahr, dass man die dünne Silikondurchführung verletzt und die Kamera undicht wird.Langzeiterfahrungen werde ich bei Gelegenheit nachreichen. Falls die Kamera abstürzen sollte bzw. undicht wird, werde ich das berichten.Fazit: Eine sehr empfehlenswerte wenn auch nicht preiswerte Kamera mit riesigen Blickwinkeln.Edit 09.02.2016:Nach wie vor versieht die Kamera wunderbar Ihren Dienst. Sogar Tag als auch Nachtsicht ist einwandfrei. Live Bilder sehen wir uns mit Tablet und der kostenpflichtigen App “IP Cam Viewer” an. Zu beachten ist dabei, dass man nur die “Fischaugensicht” präsentiert bekommt. Da man mit Multitouch aber gut zoomen und pannen kann ist das kein Problem.In Kürze werde ich auch noch einen Bosch Bewegungsmelder ISC-BPR2-W12 über die I/O Ports anschliessen um die Aufnahmen zu triggern und falls möglich auch noch eine TCP Benachrichtigung an einen Arduino weitersenden um den Alarm optisch mit Blitzlicht zu signalisieren. Zur Stromversorgung kann man diesen Bosch Melder gut direkt aus der Kamera steuern – er benötigt nur 10mA und die Kamera liefert bis zu 15mA/12V

In dire need of HTML5 modernisation.Line cross software (which would be really helpful to stop false alarms) and is provided by Axis is licensed paid for cost option! Lame.One of the security screws is knackered, the head is broken.Awful quality night vision

All the other Axis cameras I have are perfect. Be careful with this oneThis camera failed after a few weeks. It has an inbuilt cable that cannot be replaced. Camera does not communicate, cannot see on networrk cannot update firmware. All the other Axis cameras I have are perfect. Be careful with this one.
