Great resource. Was a good way to use my existing reed switch door sensors. I already had 7 wired to my old control. I ended up building a power supply and box for it with a battery backup rather than destroying my old panel.

Great way to make use of your old, wired alarm systemI had an old, Brinks wired alarm system that hasn’t been monitored in a long time, and when it recently started beeping every night in the middle of the night, the only option other than getting involved in a new monitoring contract was to replace it.I didn’t need a monitored system, but I did need a way to tell if my child with autism or my mom with Alzheimer’s was opening doors or windows. After looking into my options, I called Linear, who owns 2GIG, and asked if their system could be used just for alerting me to zone openings, and not necessarily to be a monitored system. The woman I spoke to was pleasant and helpful, and said that while the system is designed to be installed by dealers, yes, it could be used as I needed. So I bought this takeover module and

Works but was problematicWorks but was problematic. Battery low alert. Could not bypass. Tech support answered fast but could not help fix it. Resolution much better quality and works better. No problems yet

Great!Took some time to figure this one out. I have no experience with electrical or alarm wiring but gave this a go to switch my wired alarm to a 2gig panel friendly signal. Works great! Watch a few basics of alarm wiring on youtube and it will eventually click in your mind how things work.

Make sure you have alarm company guidanceMy take switch was missing some wires (which is concerning), but I used my systems existing ones. Install was advanced, but my alarm provider was great in providing me install guidance. But once installed, has worked like a champ with my 2Gig GC3

  6. Liz

Worked exactly as described. I used this to connect …Worked exactly as described. I used this to connect a hard wired security system in the house I bought to a 2GIG GC3 security system. I am now free of ADT.

2GIG really has a great product with thisThis is just what I needed to add my existing 8 hardwired zones to my 2GIG system. 2GIG really has a great product with this.

Did multiple service calls to different homes and determined the back-up battery on each was fine. I spoke with 2gig but they coWe are an alarm company that installed 20 or more of these on pre-wired homes until we learned that they have a low battery warning issue that can not be corrected. Even with a brand new 12 volt panel battery and with the correct wiring, 2gig system shows low battery on all wired zones. Unfortunately the panel will make an obnoxious beeping that cannot be cleared without going in and out of programming, then it comes back days or hours later. What is strange is that most of the homes we installed them didn’t show the problem right away, it took a few months and then all zones would show low battery. That is why we didn’t catch the problem immediately. We still have one or two customers with a working module but most have malfunctioned, costing us and the customer time and money. Did multiple service calls to different homes and determined the back-up battery on each was fine. I spoke with 2gig but they could not clear the problem. In fact, some of their tech support said the wiring diagram included with the Take over module was in correct. We have switched them all out for RE208 from Resolution Products. I have a pile of these in a box that I am planning to ship back to 2gig. I love 2gig products but this one has been a night mare with service calls. I just don’t want someone else to deal with the same problems we have experienced.
