This keypad makes for a very useful secondary keypad for the Honeywell alarmAs many others have stated, you shouldn’t purchase this keypad without purchasing the K0991 power adapter. This was for an install for my mother-in-law. The last thing I want her to do is wake up to false alarm and not be able to turn it off because she doesn’t realize it needs one additional press to wake it up from sleep mode. With the power adapter, it does not enter the sleep mode. This keypad makes for a very useful secondary keypad for the Honeywell alarm. The tactile feel of the buttons are good if you are in a rush to turn off the system. (or even when you are turning on the system) It helps to feel the push of each button and the beep that goes along with it.

Decent productSimply put: It works as expected. I needed a device that worked with my alarm and this seems to do the job. It is not very loud, but it beeps and is audible enough. I have it hooked to a power outlet at all times, though it runs on batteries. I have one issue when it is powered by batteries is that I do not know how to bring the device out of “sleep” mode when on batteries.

Great as long as it’s powered via the power supply (which you have to purchase separately)Very good keypad in general, but if you use it while powered by the batteries, it goes to sleep and you cannot see the alarm status unless you wake it up. I have this in our MBR and wanted to be able to glance at it without getting out of bed to see if we remembered to arm the system or not. Just seems like a really dumb design decision, was probably done to conserve the batteries. If you install it with a power supply, it works as one would expect. I bought Honeywell K0991 adapter and installed it inside the wall so there isn’t an unsightly power supply wire running down the wall to an outlet. As far as I know, there is no wireless alternative available that’ll work with my Honeywell L7000 alarm system. The good news is that the wireless range seems adequate. I have a repeater downstairs about 40′ as the crow flies, going through multiple walls, and the keypad has worked without problems. If your alarm console is further than that from where you want to install the keypad, you might have connectivity issues. Consider adding a repeater if you run into that problem. Or, put in a hard-wired keypad.

Honeywell 5828 Ademco Wireless KeypadProduct works as expected. Slight delays being wireless when entering your arm and disarm code compared to a similar wired keypad. Over a good product. It serves the purpose of adding a keypad in the bedroom with out have to do any kind of construction or sheetrock work.

Five StarsThought this came with a plug. Maybe I misread. Still came quickly and worked fine

Not good for primary keypad.I bought this with intention to put it in the kitchen where the panel is now and move the panel to a bedroom. But it only wakes up on keypress, so doesn’t sound for chime, entry delay or alarm. I think it will stay awake if used with 5 VDC adapter but it’s really not designed to use the adapter with wall mount, and you can’t really run 5VDC down 25 feet of wire like the existing 13.8VAC. So for now, it’s on the shelf.

basic functions, works fine as a secondary keypadI didn’t realize that the AC adapter wasn’t included with this unit. It was a little frustrating after it arrived, because I would sync it up to my Honeywell L5210; but the power wouldn’t stay one long enough with just the batteries to be useful. This unit does not have the voice alerts, it only beeps.
